MV Nestor Successfully Completes Cement Delivery at Brightlingsea Port
Brightlingsea, United Kingdom — 5 March 2026 — The MV Nestor has successfully completed the discharge of a shipment of bulk cement at Brightlingsea, marking another efficient operation in the regional maritime logistics sector.
The vessel arrived off Brightlingsea on 4 March 2026, with the pilot boarding at the 9 Buoy at 12:15. Shortly after arrival, the vessel was safely secured alongside the quay at 12:45, and discharge operations commenced at 12:55. The cargo consisted of approximately 2,175 metric tonnes of bulk cement, transported under a charter agreement dated 11 February 2026, with a bill of lading issued on 27 February 2026.
Discharge operations were completed efficiently the same afternoon at 16:45, demonstrating effective coordination between the vessel crew, port authorities, and shore-side operations. The cargo was discharged at an open quay facility, where minor wet areas were noted but did not significantly affect the overall operation.
Following the completion of cargo operations, the vessel initially prepared to depart in the early hours of 5 March 2026. However, dense mist and reduced visibility prompted the Pilot to cancel the initial sailing attempt as a precautionary safety measure. The vessel temporarily returned alongside the quay before departing safely later that day on the next HW she successfully sailed from Brightlingsea at 13:05.
The operation was coordinated locally by Uniconnection Chartering & Ship’s Agency Ltd, acting as agent for the vessel’s master, Vasyl Gorbatyuk.
This delivery highlights the continued importance of coastal shipping for the efficient transport of construction materials across European ports, supporting regional infrastructure and development projects.
